Port Security International

HISTORY

PSI was formed to meet the security needs of the maritime trading system while offering a low-cost, low-risk alternative. With an initial focus on providing Central and South American ports with non-intrusive cargo/vehicle inspection system, PSI offers a solution that allows port operators and other governing authorities the ability to increase security and tariff revenue while avoiding the capital investment or technological risk.

Container cargo screening at the port of origin and/or the port of destination brings important and valuable benefits from a customs and taxation perspective. However, more importantly, after September 11 2001, securing the global supply chain has become an impending obligation. The desired level of security established by international container security standards such as the United States Container Security Initiative (CSI) makes non-intrusive cargo scanning a must.

PSI's innovative business model offers flexibility both financially and technologically. Our service model offers a solution that allows customs authorities, port authorities, port operators and shipping companies to avoid capital investment and technological risk while meeting imminent needs for security and increased global tariff recovery. Through partnerships with a variety of leading cargo scanning technology providers, PSI is able to offer a complete, turn- key solution that includes engineering, operating and maintaining non- intrusive inspection and tracking systems on a "pay as you go" basis.

With this service model there are no "up front" capital costs to the customer and no technological risk. PSI assumes both obligations. Nor is this model a lease - there is no down payment required and no funds are obligated until the first scan is processed.

Cargo screening through PSI will allow public and private actors of the maritime supply chain to decrease clearing time through destination ports, increase level of security and protection from container-delivered terrorism and, reduce container fraud and smuggling of contraband. All of this while charging customers on a per-container-processed basis- PSI offers a compelling value proposition to the Ports, Customs and the governments. PSI's innovative solution answers the challenges of financing and providing security and tariff control solutions to the maritime trade system in an economically viable fashion.
